02.24.2008 - Walls of Jericho drops off tour
Wall of Jericho have dropped off a tour with Napalm Death and Devildriver.
The band has released this statement:
"We can honestly say that it is a huge disappointment on our end. This has been a tour that we have been extremely excited about and looking forward to for several months and to back out was very tough for us. However our label (Trustkill Records) has decided to pull tour support funding for this tour as they feel finishing our next record is the number one priority. Our management and label both feel that we need to be writing our new record in preparation for a spring recording and with this tour we just don't have enough time to accomplish all things. With that said the decision has been handed down and we are forced to cancel. However, this will ensure a summer/late summer release for our new as yet untitled full-length record which we have been working very hard on as of late and should turn out to be nothing short of incredible. The extra time devoted to this record is going to pay off big time and we should be able to come out with a record we can truely be proud of and excited about. We would like to apologize to all the bands on this tour for pulling out so late and we would like to also apologize to all the people who were looking forward to seeing us in the next few weeks."

01.14.2008 - H2O signs to Bridge Nine
Boston's Bridge Nine Records and New York's H2O are very proud and
extremely excited to announce that H2O is officially joining the
Bridge Nine Records family. H20 is currently in the studio with
producer Chad Gilbert (Shai Hulud, New Found Glory, Hazen Street) and
engineer Paul Miner (Death By Stereo) working on their as-yet untitled
fifth full-length CD/LP.
"This is something that we are very excited to announce," said Chris
Wrenn, Owner of Bridge Nine Records. "H2O has a long history for both
me and everyone who works here and they fit with the label's decade of
history and the roster of bands with almost 100 releases. They have a
history with Sick Of It All and the guys in Project X, and they fit in
well with our current bands like Death Before Dishonor all the way to
Crime In Stereo. I remember seeing H2O when I was in college in 1995
and the band was everything hardcore should be - they were energetic,
everyone at the show was having fun, and it had such a positive vibe.
I even gave Toby one of the first Bridge Nine items I ever made-a
patch with a Misfits crimson ghost with X'd up hands." Wrenn added,
"And to show what kind of guy Toby is - he still has it!"
After four albums and over 300,000 copies sold on Blackout, Epitaph,
and MCA Records and almost a decade of constant touring with the likes
of the Misfits, Sick Of It All, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and
Warped Tour, H2O took their first (and well-deserved) break in 2003.
The band was given time to pursue other interests that they didn't
have the chance to pursue in that breakneck schedule. H2O still
played shows and still wrote songs, but in the meantime, Toby became
the proud father of Maximus Morse, expanded his musical range with
Hazen Street and founded the SXEOG clothing line. Todd hit the road
as lead guitar player in Juliette Lewis and the Licks. Rusty focused
on his company, Pnut Jewelry, which became a busy enterprise in its
own right. TF played drums for various NYC punk bands, and Adam
played with rockers Alston. With five members split between LA and
NYC, it was never a matter of IF H2O was going to get back to
full-steam, but a matter of when.
In 2005, H20 went back to what made them a household name in the first
place: touring, and while getting ready for their next record, they
went out with The Used and Pennywise and they headlined the Peta2 tour
with future members of B9's own Ambitions (then known as With Honor).
In 2006, the new record was still in the works when the band headlined
South America and the USA again, as well as supporting Rancid and
headlining the inaugural "This Is Hardcore" Fest in Philadelphia.
2007 came around and after returning to Japan and doing some small
stints in the US, that unnamed new record was still in progress all
along. As the story goes according to Chris Wrenn, "[Label Manager]
Karl [Hensel] and I were in the office listening to H2O and talking
about the first time we both saw the band play, and then the
conversation became 'They're still an awesome band. We should do the
next H2O record' not thinking that it would actually happen. But here
we are." said Chris Wrenn. And
the rest is history.
Anyone who knows will tell you: H2O is best experienced live-and the
band is ready to do that with a new album of songs to play. Bassist
Adam Blake said, "You won't get the full picture of who H2O are from
reading an interview or even from listening to a record. To really get
it, you need to come to a live show and hang with us. We want our
fans to feel like we're all part of one family, that we're all in this
together. We appreciate every kid who has come out, and who still
comes out- this album will not disappoint anyone."
Look for H20's highly anticipated Bridge Nine debut to hit stores in
May 2008 and get ready to see H20 to support the album with full world
touring throughout the new year!

11.07.2006 - Abigail Williams debut EP release date set
source: EarsplitPR
Candlelight Records confirms January 23 as the North American release date for Abigail Williams' Legend. The limited edition 5-song ep is the territory's formal introduction to the Phoenix-based extreme metal band and coincides with the band's first national American tour; the band participating on Candlelight's upcoming (and highly anticipated) label tour featuring co-headliners Dark Funeral and Enslaved.
Amassing an impressive quarter million hits to their MySpace page (this in under six months!), Abigial Williams defy classification by taking the groove and melody of Gothenburg-styled death metal, face-smashing breakdowns of the hardcore scene and top it with the bombastic and epic-flavored frostbite of black metal's most evil hordes. The result is a multi-faceted and unforgettable hybrid that already has genre aficionados taking an immediate interest. Kerrang! says, "the bloody birth of black metalcore. Abigail Williams have taken fresh-faced metal down the left hand path... the result is obscenely exciting."
Abigail Williams' full length debut is planned for an early Spring 2007 release. Additional touring plans will be announced in cooperation with the album's release date.
Track listing for Legend is as follows: From a Buried Heart, Like Carrion Birds, The Conqueror Wyrm, Watchtower, Procession of the Aeons (exclusive demo).

11.06.2006 - Good news from Tom Myspace for Bones!

(from Scott Campbell of Bones)
"We just got this message from the one-and-only TOM from Myspace:
"i heard about what happened with your URL. i gave it back to ya..
sorry about that! as we grow in size, sometimes people make decisions i
don't know about. this was obviously the wrong decision. the bones URL

11.06.2006 - Indie rock band BONES loses established URL to TV show
Baton Rouge, LA (November 6, 2006) ? With no advance notice or explanation, Baton Rouge indie rockers Bones have lost their long-established Myspace URL (www.myspace.com/bones) to the FOX Television show of the same name. Bones, the band, has used www.myspace.com/bones for nearly 2 years, racking up close to 20,000 profile views, over 21,000 song plays and over 2100 Myspace friends.
?Losing our URL was a complete surprise to us,? said Michael Miller (upright/electric bass, vox). ?We logged on one day and found David Boreantz staring back at us. It sucks because we?ve used that URL for almost 2 years to build our band name and fan base, and it?s on all of our product and posters. We?re as indie as it gets and can?t afford to reprint everything.?
"The crazy thing is, once you pick your Myspace URL you are warned repeatedly by Mypace that you can never change it,? said Scott Campbell (drums/synth bass/graphic designer). ?I guess someone bigger came along and wanted the URL we?ve been promoting for 2 years. No one from Myspace will get back to us about how this could have happened, and they?ve now stuck us with www.myspace.com/7483383 which we can not change.?
Bones hits the road tomorrow for the East Coast leg of its Disconnected tour, in support of their self-released CD which is available via Insound.com, BonesTheBand.com and their newly dubbed Myspace page - www.myspace.com/7483383.

11.06.2006 - Bloodlined Calligraphy Announces New Lineup
Bloodlined Calligraphy are pleased to announce the
completion of their new lineup. The arrival of new
members Ellen Hoffman and Robbie Coran to the
Ypsilanti family heralds an exciting new chapter for
the band.
Vocalist Hoffman hails from Minneapolis, Minnesota and
will relocate to Ypsilanti, Michigan to join the band
full time. After a week of practicing together,
Hoffman and the rest of the band gelled and solidified
the singer?s new position. Although she?s already a
fan of hardcore and metal and an avid show-goer,
Bloodlined Calligraphy will be Hoffman?s first foray
into a band of her own. Even so the group feels
certain that she has the moxie to continue the
progress that was set in motion with the release of
Ypsilanti.
In addition, a new drummer has also joined the BLC
family. Robbie Coran hails from Livonia, Michigan and
has known the band for a few years. When the
opportunity arose to fill the position, he jumped at
it and is now looking forward to touring full time.
Look forward to seeing Ellen and Robbie on tour soon
with Bloodlined Calligraphy and welcome them to the
BLC family ? you can check out photos of the new
lineup on their Myspace profile below!

11.05.2006 - Victory Records joins A2IM
source: Victory Records
Tony Brummel, founder of one of the country?s top independent record companies, Victory Records, has announced that Victory will join the American Association of Independent Music (A2IM).
The American Association of Independent Music (A2IM) is comprised of a broad coalition of music labels that promotes the interests and goals of the independent music community. Formed in 2005, the A2IM now boasts over 200 member labels, working together to support fair trade practices, including equal access to the media and the marketplace, that would put it on a level playing field with the largest companies in the industry. A2IM is also actively involved in the exploration of new and innovative forms of music exposure and distribution.
Victory has accomplished something independents rarely, if ever do: selling six figures of a new release out of the box which it has done twice in the last two years with--Taking Back Sunday and Hawthorne Heights. Victory is also the only pure independent label to have had two, back-to-back, top-10 albums on the Billboard Top 200 in 2006.
Victory?s roster has grown to represent all of rock?s varied and eclectic sub-genres with the goal of being the best rock record label on the planet. Victory is also the only label with its own social networking community, VictorME.com, and its own bi-monthly television program, VicTorV (also available as a free podcast at VicTorV.tv).
?I hope that by joining I can help be a catalyst for some kind of change. I am looking forward to getting in the trenches with my indie comrades,? Victory Records Founder Tony Brummel states. ?There is a lot of work to do.?
"Victory Records is fueled by passion and commitment, the very embodiment of the independent spirit,? states Acting President Peter Gordon. ?We are pleased to welcome them into the A2IM community."
ABOUT A2IM
A2IM seeks to serve the indie music community as a unified voice representing a sector that comprises nearly 30% of the music industry's market share in the US. The organization will represent the Indies' interests in the marketplace, in the media, on Capitol Hill, and as part of the global music community. A2IM will be headquartered in New York, and seeks to establish a legislative presence in Washington, DC. The organization's board of directors is comprise of the following: Beggars Group CEO Lesley Bleakley, Thirsty Ear President Peter Gordon, TVT Records president Steve Gottlieb, Roadrunner Records senior VP/GM Doug Keogh, Bar/None owner Glenn Morrow, Lookout Records co-owner Molly Neuman, Tommy Boy Records owner Tom Silverman, Slim Moon founder Kill Rock Stars, Amaechi Uzoigwe co-founder Definitive Jux.

11.05.2006 - Victory Signs Chicago?s 1997
source: Victory Records
Victory Records announces the signing of Chicago?s 1997, whose purpose as a band according to guitarist Caleb Pepp is simple: ?We want to make music that my younger brothers and sisters would enjoy, and inspire other kids into listening to and making their own good music.? ?We don?t want to be the next fad band,? bassist Allan Goffinski adds. ?We want our music to last and stand the test of time.?
Although the quintet, who grew up in suburban Chicago, aren?t exactly grizzled veterans, they started getting into various bands as young teenagers and have been playing non-stop ever since. Previously, the members of 1997 had played in bands ranging from pop-rocksters October Fall and metalcore screamers Funeral Etiquette to emo suburban legends Constance. When they finally got together in October of 2005, it was as if, notes singer Kevin Thomas, ?five best friends had finally found our musical niche.?
But what an intoxicating niche that is! Effortlessly blending passionate rock power with effervescent pop harmonies and melodies, the music of 1997 evokes favorable comparisons to bands as diverse as Jimmy Eat World, The Promise Ring and 10,000 Maniacs. Make no mistake about it, 1997 worked hard and long to create their unique sound. They spent a good six months working on their music before they stepped out on a stage for the first time together. Once they did that, however, it set in motion a passionate local following and the interest of Victory Records, one of the country?s top independent labels.
Why did Victory sign 1997? Victory owner Tony Brummel said, ?1997 are comprised of the same underground rock chromosomes that are part and parcel of the root system that constitutes the overall DNA of the Victory Family Tree. They are a natural fit to our roster in our quest to be the best rock record label on the planet. Like so many of our other great artists 1997 have that special, indescribable ?chill? that can only be felt and not conveyed in words. That ?chill? is what makes them more intriguing and unique than the mainstream pabulum that the powers that be are programming. Their music is a singer/songwriter hybrid of folksy rock yet they are a five-piece band with keys and interchanging male/female vocals. The fact that Kerri and Caleb are husband and wife, and the band as a unit is five best friends, synergizes into the creation of music that can do nothing but immediately infect the deepest regions of your heart and soul. Now, it is up to us to get 1997?s music exposed and hopefully bring something meaningful and uplifting to people?s lives.?

10.29.2006 - Sepultura back in the United States
Brazilian heavy metal kings Sepultura have announced their long-awaited return to American shores in November! The band kicks off their 28-city tour at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, AZ on Thursday, November 11.
Sepultura have earned their stripes with a trailblazing, 20+ year career that has seen them walk the path from thrash metal upstarts in the late 1980s to the 'bona fide legend' status that they hold today. Their latest album, "Dante XXI", has been heralded by the press and the heavy metal community worldwide as a true return to form, along with being one of the very finest metal releases of the year. The album, based on "Divina Comedia", one of the master works of Italian poet and philosopher, Dante Alighieri, has turned heads both for it's razor-sharp sonic aesthetics and it's forward-thinking, literate approach to heavy metal.

10.18.2006 - Insound launches "Save The Album" campaign
New York, NY (October 16, 2006) ? Insound.com, the premier online retailer for independent music, has launched a campaign to ?Save The Album.? The campaign is designed to help celebrate a format that has endured recent threats at the hands of single track sales and subscription offers. Noted and respected indie artists The Decemberists, Bloc Party, The Mountain Goats, Devendra Banhart, Pretty Girls Make Graves, The Walkmen, and Lou Barlow have recorded short video pieces celebrating their favorite albums. The ?mission? and the videos can be seen at www.savethealbum.com.
In support of the campaign, Insound.com, which had until now exclusively sold albums on CD and vinyl, will also be launching a new album-only, MP3-only digital store this week. All music will be available exclusively in the format in which it was designed to be released. Individual tracks will not be available for purchase. Additionally, the MP3 format will also allow consumers to easily move the music to any portable device they choose. ?While the sale of individual tracks certainly makes sense technologically for pop music, it is fully not in the best interest of the independent music community. It hurts not only artists, but also labels, retailers, and distributors,? said Matt Wishnow, President of Insound. ?If I love Spoon, I love them for Series of Sneaks, Kill the Moonlight and Gimme Fiction and not for particular songs on those albums. We want to continue to nourish fans who feel this way about the album while allowing those fans to get their music in whatever format they prefer ? CD, LP or MP3.?
Jesse Woghin, co-owner of Chicago label Flameshovel (Make Believe, Maritime, Bound Stems), and a member of indie band Chin Up Chin Up, sees ?Save The Album? as a natural extension of Insound's efforts to support independent music. ?With the rise in popularity of single track downloading, the art-form of the album sadly seems to be getting lost along the way," Woghin explains. "Almost nothing pleases me more than hearing the sequencing of songs come together to form a perfect, cohesive whole. Leave it to the folks at Insound, though, to not only champion the format of the album, but figure out a way to re-envision it digitally with their ?Save the Album? campaign. The fact that I now can buy vinyl and download a full album instantly all in the same place truly makes Insound the perfect record store for the 21st century."
Insound launched in 1999 on the heels of the dot-com bust and right before the onset of the music-industry downturn. In spite of those adverse conditions, the company carved a special and necessary niche that enabled it to survive and thrive as a host of now-defunct competitors (CDNow, Music Boulevard, etc.) went under. The company, which began turning a profit in 2004, has been called ?the go-to for all things indie rock? by NPR?s All Things Considered, and has been an instrumental part of the online retail success of a number of influential bands, from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs to Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.
"Damn! Insound is my kind of company," says David Dickenson, owner of Seattle's Suicide Squeeze Records (Minus The Bear, Headphones, Modest Mouse, Elliott Smith). "True music fans working to provide true music fans with the best CDs, zines, limited edition vinyl, and more! Suicide Squeeze, for our part, is thrilled that Insound is now adding full-album digital sales to that impressive laundry list. We certainly look forward to many more years of working together."

09.08.2006 - Unearth/Bleeding Through/Terror tour
The "Sanctity Of Brothers" Tour kicks off TODAY in Cleveland, OH, featuring Unearth, Bleeding Through, Terror, and more. Get all dates and tickets below.
Bleeding Through have announced that they will be supporting Avenged Sevenfold on their upcoming UK Tour this fall! Both bands who hail from the same Orange County, California scene have a deep history and friendship. M. Shadows, vocalist of Avenged made a guest appearance on Bleeding Through's 'Portrait of the Goddess' album back in 2002. The favor was returned this summer when both groups appeared together on Ozzfest, where Bleeding Through's vocalist Brandan Schieppatti joined Avenged Sevenfold on stage each day to sing a cover version of Pantera's 'Walk.'
The Unearth tour will be a welcome return to form to indoor clubs after a sweltering mid-day set at Ozzfest. Bleeding Through guitarist Scott Danough says of the upcoming romp "Ozzfest has been great but after playing in blazing heat, we can't wait to return to the darkness of night and the indoor shows we were raised on."
Immediately after the Unearth run is a headlining run of Canada with support from Walls Of Jericho. All those dates are below as well.

08.14.2006 - Daylight Dies first video is online
source: EarsplitPR
Candlelight proudly announces the online premiere of "Lies That Bind," the first video from Daylight Dies. Filmed outside the band's home base of Raleigh, North Carolina, the Ramon Boutviseth directed clip features the full band with local actors in a dark and compelling visual storyline. "It was a scorching hot and humid summer day," recalls drummer Jesse Haff. "We filmed inside a filthy, decaying building complex and later moved on to a rickety wooden salt-mine platform. And let us not forget to mention entire walls on fire! Ramon understood the importance of including a narrative to convey the song's lyrical and musical content. It's incredible what he's brought to life."
Released earlier this year, Dismantling Devotion is the second full-length recording from the popular five-piece. Mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios (Opeth/Soilwork) and mastered by Thomas Eberger at The Cutting Room (Opeth/The Hives), Blabbermouth says, "Dismantling Devotion is 53 minutes of metallically heavy and sorrowfully suffocating songwriting... the songs are not meant to be eaten as snacks; each is a full-course meal." Digital Metal adds, "Dismantling Devotion just enthralls and captivates with its blending of moods and perfectly paced songwriting."
Daylight Dies recently performed to capacity audiences alongside labelmates Emperor at New York's BB King Blues Club. The band are currently preparing for their first tour in years supporting Moonspell and long-time friends Katatonia. The tour kicks off in Poughkeepsie, New York on October 20 and will conclude on November 19 in Hartford, Connecticut. Complete listing of dates is available at candlelightrecordsusa.com.

08.12.2006 - Victory signs A Day To Remember and Beneath The Sky
source: Victory
With an average age of 18.2, Florida?s A Day To Remember enter Boston?s Zing Studios (Underoath, Killswitch Engage) in October to record their Victory debut. A Day To Remember formed in early 2003 and developed their distinct brand of melodic punk/metal, which came to fruition on an album released last year by Indianola Records. The album sold over 8,000 copies through word-of-mouth and the band?s rigorous road work of almost 200 shows in the last year. The quintet of singer Jeremy McKinnon, guitarists Neil Westfall and Tom Denney, bassist Joshua Woodard and drummer Bobby Scruggs are one in the same with the people that come to their shows. When asked about their shows Josh says ?We have a really good live show and put off a good energetic vibe. You have the hardcore kids who want to dance and have a good time, and the girls and pop kids who want to sing all the catchier stuff.? The band?s dynamic, hybrid sound is often described as a mix between Fall Out Boy, Silverstein, New Found Glory and Underoath.
Cincinnati?s Beneath The Sky formed over two years ago and will enter the studio in September to record their debut album with Jason Suecof (Trivium, The Autumn Offering). The band?s brutal blend of metal intensity, catchy melodies, crushing breakdowns and impassioned vocals have an addictive quality that many hard music artists do not successfully capture. They have established themselves through constant touring across the Midwest and Eastern U.S. along with a fantastic following on the Internet that has led to virally infectious word of mouth.

08.12.2006 - SPV signs Unleashed
source: EarsplitPR
Known for their skillfully penned, Viking-themed songs and explosive live performances, UNLEASHED are poised to make a major impact this fall with the release of their eighth full-length album, titled "Midvinterblot".
"We have more qualified songs to choose from than ever before, and I am very confident that this will be the best UNLEASHED album ever," frontman Johnny Hedlund had previously stated about the CD. "Our mission is to create one of the most memorable records in the history of death metal!!! This one will be slightly faster than 'Sworn Allegiance'. The songs will be anthems in the true traditional UNLEASHED way and will have you screaming along with the choruses. The guitar sound will be taking a step towards brutality and grind. The drums are the closest we have ever come to recording a 'live' kind of intensity. The vocals? Well, not far away from 'Sworn Allegiance'... just add a little harshness and a slightly deep aggression to that sound and you'll get the picture right there. 08.10.2006 - Slalom skateboarding and the Kentucky Fried Cone Fest
Poage Landing Days, in conjunction with Leonard Poage, Charter Member of the
DownHillBillies, is pleased to announce the addition of the Poage Landing Days
Kentucky Fried Cone Fest slalom skateboarding race to this year?s festival. The
race will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2006 on 17th Street in Ashland.
Practice will start at 9:00 AM.
Slalom skateboarding is a discipline of skateboarding in which racers weave
through an obstacle course of cones; much like slalom skiing, except on
concrete. Slalom was one of the original forms of skateboarding featured in the
1970s, but died out as different disciplines such as ramps and street-style took
the forefront. Since the early 2000s, however, slalom has made quite a comeback
around the world when many older skaters found one another though messages
boards on the Internet and started hosting races. The fun and camaraderie of
slalom attracted many older skaters to the discipline. Younger skaters are often
attracted to it because it requires no tricks, but rather relies on speed,
grace, and style. Spectators often enjoy watching slalom races because it?s not
as subjective as ?trick contests.? It?s easy to see who the winner is because
it?s simply the racer who crosses the finish line first.
Organizers hope that the Kentucky Fried Cone Fest will become a perennial staple to the festival by attracting racers from around the nation to Ashland while exposing skaters in the Tri-State Area to this lesser known, but quickly growing discipline of skateboarding. For more information about the race, or slalom skateboarding in general, see www.ncdsa.com, www.slalomskateboarder.com,
www.skateboardracing.com, www.downhillbillies.org, or www.poagelandingdays.com. Sponsors who have already committed to supporting the Kentucky Fried Cone Fest are: Skaterbuilt Skateboards, Pocket Pistols Skateboards, Sk8 Kings Skateboards, CHIxILL Skateboards, Concrete Wave Magazine, Bell Helmets, Seismic Trucks and Wheels and Marc?s Board Shop in Charleston, WV.

08.10.2006 - Blacklisted staying together, word direct from the band...
source: InStrife.com/board
Hello.
Anyone that has been following the BLACKLISTED rumor mill has probably heard every thing under the sun regarding this band. To clear things up I would first like to say, thank you to anyone who has showed any interest and emailed, messaged or otherwise got in touch with us, giving kind words to stay together. While driving across the country to play Sound and Fury, I got a phone call from a friend in Chicago for us to play there on our way back home, We had been talking about how we thought we made a bad decision with "breaking up" so the prospect of another show was a good one. After we found a bass player and confirmed for the Chicago show, we got offered two more shows (Denver, Omaha). After playing these shows and continuing on our "mini-tour" we all for the first time since Tim left the band felt on the same page about continuing on without him. Our experience at Sound And Fury alone was enough to make us re-evaluate our decision, one of the most intense experiences we have ever had as a band. We can?t wait for next year. With that said BLACKLISTED is still a band, we will be touring the United states all of September. October we will be going to Europe with RISE AND FALL and in November we will be doing around a week or so with a band that says there are NO HEROES...
Thanks for everything everybody.
- BLACKLISTED

08.05.2006 - Wastefall drop off ProgPower USA festival
source: EarsplitPR
Greece's heavy progressive act Wastefall's third album Self-Exile is taking the scene by storm, both with critics, connoisseurs and clinically-addicted fans of both progressive metal and straight-up monstrous thrash. Fans across the country (and those that travel inter-continentally for festivals) were churning with excitement to check out the bands' first ever US appearance at this year's Progpower Fest, but, as we see too many times, immigration got in the way. Here's an official statement from the band:
"We unfortunately have to announce that WASTEFALL will not be participating in this years "PROGPOWER USA" festival in Atlanta, USA on September 16th. When applying for the visa to be able to perform in USA, we ran into some unexpected problems with the Greek authorities, which have made it impossible for us to go. We're really sorry about this, as we know a lot of fans had been looking forward to seeing us in USA for the first time ever, and we ourselves had been looking very much forward to the whole experience of our first gig outside of Greece. We would like to extend our gratitude to both our label and management for doing what was possible in order to help us solve the problems, and especially we would like to thank Glenn Harveston of ProgPower USA for helping us beyond the call of duty on trying to make ends meet. We really hope to be able to go to ProgPower USA another year and make up for this." - Wastefall, 07/2006
Unfortunate news, but that snag will not impede on this bands' impact on the metal community this year, and they're fully supporting this album to the best of their abilities.

07.25.2006 - The Swellers and a Suicide Machine join forces
source: Static PR
Despite their busy touring schedule, members of Fenton, Mich.'s THE SWELLERS (Search and Rescue Records) have found time to join a vanity project, BAYONETTING THE WOUNDED, led by SUICIDE MACHINES guitarist/vocalist Dan Lukacinsky. The project also features Nick Diener (organ, vocals), Jono Diener (drums), Garrett Burgett (guitar) and Lance Nelson (bass), all members of The Swellers.
The band has a rough demo posted on the band's MySpace profile and they are set to record new demos this August.
This is not the first respected musician Nick Diener has collaborated with this year. This past spring saw the Swellers frontman fill in as touring bassist for Nitro Records' acclaimed punkers A WILHELM SCREAM on their tour with LESS THAN JAKE.

07.22.2006 - Organized Crime Records news
Organized Crime Bands On Tour Now: Cross Examination,
Few And The Proud, Left Hand Path, and Regret! New
Releases from Regret and Few And The Proud!
Ladies and Gentlemen, lock up your liquor cabinets -
Cross Examination is coming to your town! Now that
their probationary period is over, Cross Examination
is legally able to rage all over the United States.
The band has been described as what would happen if
someone ripped pages from D.R.I., Iron Maiden, and the
Domino's Pizza advertisement in the phone book and
created their own brand of crossover metal and thrash.
Staffed by a group of ragers that would send the
Animal House crew running scared, Cross Examination
plays songs about drinking beer, partying,
weed-smoking dragons, and the decapitation of
hipsters. Do not miss out on your chance to see Cross
Examination ? before you know it, you?ll be circle
pitting and screaming ?fuck yeah!? with the rest of
the crowd. Their full-length debut, Hung Jury, is in
stores now!
There must be something in the water over in the Windy
City. Chicago Hardcore is once again making a soaring
and triumphant return with the release of another
defining album: Stampede from Few And The Proud. In
the spirit of fast, pissed-off, meaningful, straight
edge hardcore, Few And The Proud bring us their debut
full-length that showcases their undeniable ability to
stir up the perfect mix of Judge, Slapshot, and
Blacklisted and turn it into a sound all their own.
Stampede is in stores August 22nd and Few And The
Proud is on their first U.S. tour ever, hitting up the
Midwest and East coast with labelmates Left Hand Path.
Left Hand Path is currently touring on their debut 7?
entitled The Wreckage, which is out now on Organized
Crime. Consider yourself warned ? these will be some
of the most explosive hardcore shows in recent memory.
Also on tour in August are the midwesterners in
Regret, who have honed their sound from listening to
hardcore luminaries like Unbroken, Give Up The Ghost,
and local Minneapolis heroes Harvest and Disembodied,
intertwining cathartic hardcore with crushing
breakdowns. Misery Brigade hit stores on July 18th and
shows off Regret at their finest hour. This latest
effort is heavy and menacing, a testament to the year
the band lived through in order to put the release
together. With Misery Brigade in stores now, Regret is
prepared to be stuffed into a van for the rest of
2006.

07.22.2006 - Trustkill launches "Get Active"
Trustkill Records has launched a new section, "Get Active!" on Trustkill.com. Our site, which has a wide range of information about all eighteen Trustkill artists, also draws a large amount of traffic through their worldwide show search engine allowing a site visitor to search for any show by city, state, venue, or band (http://www.trustkillshows.com). Trustkill has decided to use all of this traffic and attention towards a good cause. Label pres Josh Grabelle explains Trustkill's actions: "When I first started going to hardcore shows in the late 80s and early 90s, a lot of the bands were politically active, and wore their stances and opinions on their sleeves. In the early days of Trustkill some of our bands expressed their politics in their lyrics (Endeavor, Racetraitor, etc), and this is an outlet I did not want to lose sight of." Trustkill chose five charities in specific to support: ASPCA, Doctors Without Borders, Greenpeace, Musicians on Call, and PETA 2. The section of the site also lists several Trustkill bands and the charities and non-profits they support, with a brief description and a link to the organizations' websites. Josh explains, "It is important to know and learn the personalities of bands today by knowing what organizations and non-profits the band members themselves support, regardless of whether they sing about them in their songs. I feel closer to my bands, and other bands, when I know who they are as PEOPLE."
Among these bands to choose charities to support on the site is the ever-popular Bleeding Through, who is currently on Ozzfest, co-headlining the second stage. Bleeding Through, long time advocates and participants in charitable organizations, chose Comic Relief, National Hopeline Network, National Eating Disorders Network (NEDA), and Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network (RAINN). New Trustkill signees This is Hell, who just released their debut Sundowning and finished up a national tour with Bane and Modern Life is War, chose CancerCare and Support Shirts. Guitarist Rick Jiminez explains the personal connections to their charity choices. "We chose CancerCare because Travis Reilly's (vocalist) girlfriend's mother had a long battle with cancer, and she passed away this summer. It hit everybody in the band really hard, and the subject was a third of the material we wrote about on the album. Support Shirts was a small group of our friends in the Atlanta scene that made shirts saying "I Support Same Sex Marriage." Travis wore one on tour and people started noticing and asking. We eventually decided to press them ourselves. We believe that the spreading this message on a shirt is powerful and important. This issue is something that we all feel strongly about, because such a basic simple human right that people are trying to make into a complicated scenario." Josh believes that it is important for all of the bands to take a stance on what they believe in. "I think it's awesome that bands like Hopesfall, Bleeding Through, Most Precious Blood, This Is Hell, and Throwdown have shown us who and what they support in the real world. Let's not forget that our world gets darker and darker every day, and we need to give back whenever possible. We can be more than music."

07.22.2006 - Xasthur to annihilate mankind with first Battle Kommand/Hydra Head co-release
source: EarsplitPR
With tremendous respect and admiration, Hydra Head Industries is proud to release the work of one of the underground black metal scene's most creative minds: Xasthur. For this release, we are working in association with Battle Kommand Records. The Illinois-based label has released an impressive stable of quality underground releases, including a Xasthur/Leviathan split.
Though it began in 1995 and featured other members until 1999, Xasthur's entire recorded cannon (5 full lengths, 5 split albums, and an appearance on sunnO))'s "Black One") is solely the work of one tremendously prolific artist: Malefic. His sonic palette is HUGE.
The U.S. black metal scene is regarded by those in-the-know as tremendously progressive. Xasthur (along with Leviathan, Krieg, and Nachtmystium) is an American artist whose forays into lo-fi atmospherics, unique instrument and vocal textures, as well as exploratory song structures are heralded.
Subliminal Genocide adheres to the sonic and lyrics principles of malevolence contained in Xasthur's past work, but further develops the use space and atmosphere. Though the significance and appeal of underground black metal remains largely experienced only by the few who dwell in dark corners, we hope this tremendous Xasthur record reaches the ears of all those who are even slightly fond of extreme art.

07.22.2006 - Nitro Records announces first digital release from Hit The Switch
source: Nitro Records
Nitro Records has announced the digital release of Domestic Tranquility and Social Justice from Southern California's Hit The Switch. For a limited time their debut album will be available, in two waves, as free MP3 downloads at nitrorecords.com as well as at other participating outlets. The first half of the record (six songs) is ready for download beginning a few days ago on July 18th, 2006. The remaining songs will be posted as free downloads beginning August 15th.
"With stores giving less space for independent CDs these days, indie labels and young bands are under an unrealistic pressure to sell a lot of CDs very quickly," says Jerod Gunsberg, Marketing and Sales at Nitro Records. "By giving away the music online for awhile we can take that pressure off and focus on getting people to hear the music and let the band develop at a normal pace."
A young, politically charged melodic punk band from Riverside, California, Hit The Switch have been playing the West Coast for the last 4 years and have released two EP's and a full length LP since 2000.
For the rest of the year, expect to find Hit The Switch online and on the road (see current tour dates below) spreading Domestic Tranquility & Social Justice to America's youth, stirring them to action.
Websites interested in participating in the release of Domestic Tranquility and Social Justice by Hit The Switch are welcome to post the following links:

06.22.2006 - Gorgoroth's new record
The notorious black metallers return for what many are already calling their most accomplished work to date. Recording of the eagerly awaited Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam found Gorgoroth splitting time between Lydriket and Earshot Studios during much of late 2005. And for its US impact, the record will already be celebrating extensive European sales and continued growing worldwide momentum.
Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam is the logical next chapter for this highly decorated and controversial band. Eight new songs combine for a punishing album that finds the band at their dominating best. An unmatchable wall of sound, early sounds can be found at their official site (a short sample of album opener "Wound Open").
Formed in 1992, Gorgoroth have now released seven albums with a formidable worldwide sales and fan base. Struggling through early line-up changes and the band's unwaveable entanglements with legal authorities, the band - currently featuring founder/guitarist Infernus, bassist King ov Hell, and vocalist Gaahl (Ad Majorem utilizing 1349/Satyricon skinsman/drummer Frost!) - Gorgoroth are one of black metal's most cherished artists.

06.08.2006 - Greeley Estates release new record
source: Outlaw Press
This past Tuesday, Record Collection proudly released GREELEY ESTATES full length Far From The Lies. At a time when most bands are concentrating on counting downloads instead of tour miles, Phoenix, AZ quintet Greeley Estates are a refreshing anomaly, building their burgeoning fan base the old fashioned way: by hitting the road and hitting it hard. Perfecting their sound by playing whenever and wherever possible. On Far From the Lies, the much-anticipated follow-up to 2005?s Caveat Emptor EP, Greeley Estates take their road-tested sound to new heights, mixing equal parts talent, drive and musical sincerity to craft their strongest record to date. On Far From the Lies? 12 tracks, Greeley Estates pull from a disparate batch of collective influences?the melodic hardcore of Glassjaw, the eclecticism of Refused, and even the more straightforward sounds of bands like Thrice and Green Day?to form a sound that is uniquely their own.
Produced by Lou Giordano (Taking Back Sunday, Waking Ashland, Sunny Day Real Estate) and Executive Produced by Dave Sardy (Jet, Oasis, Wolfmother, Slayer), the sessions for Far From the Lies offered Greeley Estates a luxury they had never before enjoyed: time. ?When we?ve recorded in the past, we?ve always had to do it in just a few days,? says Zimmerman, ?To have the chance to take our time and focus on the songs with producers that really have an ear for the music was an amazing opportunity.?
Greeley is currently headlining their national Far From The Lies Tour which winds up this week in their hometown of Phoenix, AZ. After three full days at home, they will then head straight into the 2006 Warped Tour performing daily on the coveted Hurley Stage.

06.08.2006 - Rosetta and Day Without Dawn to embark on two month North American tour
After taking the metalcore, doom and indie scenes by complete surprise with their amazing debut The Galilean Satellites, Philly's Rosetta are taking their incredibly dense, layered, progressive trance metal to the public this month. Joining them, sculpted from the equally amazing New Jersey post-everything act known as Day Without Dawn will be showcasing the material they've mastered since their stunning 2002 debut, then known as The Postman Syndrome.

"Commented the band: "We are very excited to be working with Crash Music. They are one of the few labels in this industry still supporting premium extreme acts and it's an honor to be working with them. We know that there is still plenty of hard work that lies ahead but we say, bring it on!"
