Why did you guys decide to start Grey Area?
Ernie came down to a Warzone recording to do backups. It was discussed there that someday Ernie and myself would get together to jam.  Almost 2 years later, Raybeez passed away, 2 months after his passing, I took Ernie up on the offer.

What is your comparison between "Fanbelt Algebra" and the last album?
Deeper, darker, more mature sounding.  A progression from the first, not as happy, but maintaining our melodic sound.

What is the meaning behind the title of the album, "Fanbelt Algebra"?
It is basically all about mathematics and machines.  How, when combined, they make things work.  The equation that makes the world go round.

Any big tour plans for Grey Area in the future?
Play as much as we can without losing the enjoyment of it.  We started this band because we love the music.  We have all seen the world in past bands, and we have jobs so we don't depend on the band to pay our bills.  Grey Area is a completely DIY band, you wanna book GA, talk to me.  It makes things a lot easier and more HC like it should be.

How do you feel about the current scene in NYC compared to 5 or 10 years ago?
There is a lot more segregation these days.  So many different cliques.  You can see so many little groups at shows hanging out amongst themselves; talking to no one.  It used to be a lot different, not to mention unheard of to tour Europe or Japan for that matter.  You had to be a great band to do that.  It seems like now you just have to be willing to go.

Are there any plans by anyone of doing a Raybeez or Warzone tribute album?
I think one was done which "Warzone" had nothing to do with.  A bunch of metal bands doing Warzone songs.  It is something that would have to be dealt with very delicately because people get upset wondering where the money is going and who is collecting it.  If there was something legitimately being done, Jaysin, Todd, and myself would totally record a song together for it.  I would not want to be in control of it; too much BS.

What are you doing outside Grey Area?
Play handball, go to muscle car shows, movies, manager for a warehouse up in the Bronx by Yankee stadium.  It sucks, but it pays the bills.  I eat out a lot, almost as much as I shop in malls.  I love mall shopping!!!!!!

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and what would you do with it?
Flying, that would be amazing!  You could go anywhere, anytime.  I would go out late night and fly over NYC with my lady.  That would be beautiful.

Know any good jokes you could share?
There is this guy and he gets home from work, gets a cold drink, sits down and puts his feet up.  The doorbell rings so he gets up opens the door and no one is there.  He looks over at the doorbell and there is a SNAIL on it.  He takes it and throws it across the street. About a week later, the guy comes home from work, gets a cold drink, sits down and puts his feet up.  The doorbell rings so he gets up, opens the door and no one is there.  He looks over at the doorbell and the SNAIL says, "WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT FOR?"

What band (non-punk or hardcore) from the 80s would you like to see make a comeback?
The Police, definitely.

Anything you would like everyone out there to know?
Yes, I highly recommend Viagra.  I am currently… kidding!!  Seriously, thanks to everyone who supports us through our music and our personal lives.  HC is great because it keeps you young.  Come out and see us when we're in your hood.  We are all about a good time and love meeting new people.  If you've never heard us before, we are not your usual Victory band so give it a try.  "Think different."
