Interview
questions answered by Anthony Ezzi (vocalist)
So
what have you guys been up to?
A
lot has been going on. We lost our guitar player, Ken, to cheap
nonsense, but we have a new guitar player already. His name's Garrett
and he's an awesome guy and he can rock very well. We have new
songs and a new demo that we actually recorded with Ken before he split.
How
did the tour go when you were
temporarily
doing vocals for the Black
Dahlia
Murder?
Did it affect Arson?
The
Black Dahlia Murder tour was cool. They gave me the opportunity to
travel the country and play music. I never thought something like
that would happen to me. It was also cool becoming friends with
those guys. As far as Arson, it changed nothing except the fact
that I want us to play more. It actually made me want to come home
and play with Arson. It's kind of my true colors.
How
is your relationship with Resurrection
A.D.?
I know this could be touchy,
so feel free no
to answer.
It's
been better than it has been in a long time. We've actually been
communicating, which is cool. They've been helping us again, which
we appreciate.
What's
the worst injury that any of you have ever gotten while playing a show?
Kyle and I always get fucked up, but nothing serious. I always get
hit over the head with something.
The
worst thing you've seen on the road?
I've
seen really bad things just on my
way to practice. The New Jersey Turnpike sucks and there are
always accidents. When Joe from Set Ablaze was in the band, we
would go to practice together. We saw a semi-truck melted down to
nothing at all. We also had an armored truck full of money turn
over and keep us in traffic for at least five hours. Joe and I
walked almost a mile to try and find some money.
How
has the article in Metal
Maniacs
has affected the band?
I don't really know. I guess a lot of people read it, it's a huge
magazine. It was really nice that Liz decided to do such a big
article on us. It was real crazy just to see our name on the cover of a
magazine like that. The only reaction we got was our friends
telling us how funny we look sitting by the ocean. Also Kyle
looking like a male model is always great.
This
one is for Keith. A friend
of mine wanted me to ask you how long you've had you hair like that and
how often you wash it. He
thought it would be some work to wash it all the time.
Unfortunately,
Keith isn't here to answer, but luckily I am an expert on his
hair. He's been growing his locks for years - as long as I've know
him, they've been there. And yes he washes it all the time, I even
help him sometimes. I also thought you weren't supposed to wash
it.
(still
for Keith) Also, he wanted to know how you like your job at the record
store? Do you have any
interesting stories from work? In
fact, do any of you have any interesting stories from work?
I love messed up, work-related stories.
Keith
loves his job. He's on call. I'm sure he has better stories
than I would. I always see crazy people come into Vintage and act
real crazy. Always asking the best questions like, 'Do you sell
metal?'
'How big is the gospel section?'
'What do you think of the new weezer record?'
It's funny to hang out there sometimes and watch the crazies. Vintage
really is the best record store I've ever been to.
What's
the best memory you have of the band?
There's
a lot. The funniest would be Kyle in the Georgia tech dorms,
running around naked except for some girl's fairy costume. Enough
said.
What's
the worst (unless it's something really sensitive)?
The worst thing would be all the nonsense that used to go on in the
band. Fighting and bickering.
What
do you think the world should know about Arson?
We are honest. We don't do any of this for fashion or to win any
popularity contest. We genuinely like playing together and I think
it shows.
Is
there anything you would ever change about the way you've done anything
with Arson?
No. There have been ups and downs, but we're not dead.
